Mereological fallacies
The neuromyths and reductionist views of the human
Interdisciplinary collaboration could help to mitigate two serious errors that neuroscience makes when communicating scientific information to the public. The errors we are referring to are those related to misinterpretations about the brain, also known as “neuromyths”, and misperceptions, called “mereological fallacies”, whereby the brain alone is granted certain attributes or psychological traits that in reality belong to the human being as a whole, not just to this organ.
